Guest bottomley Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 everytime i try to delete a particular file from my flash drive it gives me an error "directory not empty" how do i remedy this, thanks -- bottomley
Guest Doug W. Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Re: deleting files/folders from flash drive Possibly because there are files in a sub-directory which must be deleted first before the main file can be deleted. This message will also display if you opened or read any of those files before trying to delete. I've had this happen many times. No big deal. Usually if I open the Windows Task Manager and stop process of Explorer and then re-start Explorer (Run: Explorer). I then have no problem deleting the problem file(s). Or use Unlocker: http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ --- "bottomley" <bottomley@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:334079B3-C85B-44C7-8B9F-CFAAFBE7EDE2@microsoft.com... > everytime i try to delete a particular file from my flash > drive it gives me > an error "directory not empty" how do i remedy this, thanks > -- > bottomley

Perhaps copying all the other files to another flash drive first? With the flash drive in a USB port: Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management. Right click on the letter for the flash drive and Format it. This will erase everything on the flash drive. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA
