Guest Donald Jacobs Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I have just installed Windows SP3. I then tried to install McAfee. When I start it I get a blank AcAfee Security Center screen. If I put this CD in an SP 2 Window it displays. What is my problem with the SP3 system?

Upgrade McAfee... Or better yet dump it get AntiVir from Avira, it is free and doing VERY well in the AV Comparatives for a while now. -- Galen (Not Current MS-MVP) My Geek Site: http://kgiii.info Web Hosting: http://whathostingshould.be "In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backwards. Guest Mick Murphy Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 RE: Blank Window displayed http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html Avast Anti-Virus is XP/Vista compatible (32bit and 64bit Versions), FREE, auto-updating, and a low resources user of your computer. And, only have 1(one) Anti-Virus installed / running on your computer at any one time.. Conflicts may occur if you have more than 1(one -- Mick Murphy - Qld (Sunshine State) - Australia "Donald Jacobs" wrote: > I have just installed Windows SP3. Guest Donald Jacobs Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Re: Blank Window displayed Thanks for your suggestion but that's how I got into this mess. Installed the highly rated AVG free anti virus after which I could not shut downs the computer normally, had to "pull the plug" Galen wrote: > My reply is at the bottom of your sent message. > > In news:%233blKLpFJHA.224@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl, > Donald Jacobs <donaldjacobs@sprintmail.com> typed: > > > >>I have just installed Windows SP3. As a side note, I have found that traditionally anti-malware software is only good at preventing you from becoming infected. Once you are infected the best methods of removing malware are the manual methods. -- Galen (Not Current MS-MVP) My Geek Site: http://kgiii.info Web Hosting: http://whathostingshould.be "In solving a problem of this sort, the grand thing is to be able to reason backwards.
