Guest jynxed Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 HELP!! I use Windows XP- I get a message which reads copy PowerDVD.sim to PowerDVD folder. I ask another group about this and they suggested I delete PowerDVD altogether and install a different program. WELL- I tried (by using an uninstall program) to remove PowerDVD and then downloaded Media Player Classic, etc. However, when I try to play a DVD, I still get the message- AND, PowerDVD stills appears to be on my system. WHAT NOW? -- TY-J

Guest jynxed Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 RE: PowerDVD It isn't there any more, nor in program files, only when I do a file search from the start menu. Or if I try to play a DVD and get the message. If I reinstall and then remove, won't that just remove the one I reinstalled? -- TY-J "Mick Murphy" wrote: > Start>Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs>Do it from there. > If only partially removed, reinstall it, then remove it. > -- > Mick Murphy - Qld (Sunshine State) - Australia > > > "jynxed" wrote: > > > HELP!! If you reinstall the same app, it will go to the same locations and use the same registry keys as the original install. Your uninstall was not successful, probably because the program was already damaged. Removing and reinstalling may well fix the original problem that led you to shift to another app - that would have been the appropriate first step. If it doesn't, removing it while it is properly installed should remove the traces you are now seeing. This is a normal procedure for failed uninstalls.
