Guest John Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Windows XP Media Center edition. In the task bar where active tasks (i.e. firefox) sit when they are running, there is a process/task called "unlock". The only options available are minimize and close. I took a tasklist /v from the command line and saved it to a text file and started looking at the active processes. I didn't see anything odd, the usual svchost etc. So I closed the "unlock" and took another tasklist -v To my surprise, there was no difference in size between the before an after images. I did some googling but couldn't find anything about "unlock" that looked specific enough to tell me what' going on. I'm not at that computer now, but I could get the two snapshots if anyone thinks they can figure this out from them. The "unlock" isn't causing any problems, its just weird to see this thing sitting there doing nothing. It may be a leftover from a screensaver but that doesn't explain (to me) why closing it would not change the size of the process list. -- Do you twitter? http://twitter.com Do you want to be a cranky geek? http://www.crankygeeks.com/ Improving the usenet experience: http://improve-usenet.org/ (I score GG down to 8999) RLU #451587 http://counter.li.org/estimates.php
