Guest oldmanlat Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Hi. I'm using MS Office Home and Student 2007 with XP SP3. Sometimes, not always, when I close a Word doc I get the following error pop-up. "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the Inconvenience. The information you were working on may be lost. Microsoft Office Word can try to recover it for you." "Recover my work and restart Microsoft Office Word." "Send Error Report - Don't Send" I select "Don't Send: and it then opens a blank Word doc. Help would be appreciated. Thanks. oldmanlat NJ
Guest sgopus Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 RE: Word opens a 2nd doc with error It might be your installation of office 2007 has some corrupt files, try a repair install of office 2007 "oldmanlat" wrote: > Hi. > I'm using MS Office Home and Student 2007 with XP SP3. > Sometimes, not always, when I close a Word doc I get the following error > pop-up. > > "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. Will a repair install lose my preferences? And, while we're on the subject, is there a way to backup my settings/preferences in Office 2007? I recently had a crash, and it took me over an hour to re-set my settings in Word and Excel. Thanks again, I'll hold off on the re-install until I here from you. Regards, oldmanlat

It isn't an operating system issue. Good luck!
