Server 2003 Backup exec 12

I have a problem where by i cannot install backup exec 12 when i run the msi

file i get the following error message.

 

"An error was encountered while trying to load the install package. Review

the install log and contact your system administrator or re-run the setup

with administrator privileges".

 

This event logged in the application log

Product: Symantec Backup Exec for Windows Servers -- Installation Failed.

 

I have come accross this article and tried some of the suggestions although

they're not for the version im running but I through it was worth a shot.

There Server spec

 

Intel Xeon 3Ghz

1Gb Ram

150Gb space available on the C drive

 

Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2

 

The system is also being used as a Terminal Server.

 

Has anyone come accross this problem?

Hello David,

 

Do you have any policy running that maybe removes some rights from the administrator?

Did you install it on the local server or via Remote desktop? Also BE you

have often to copy to harddisk before an install runs correctly. Additional

i would disable the Antivirus during installation.
