Guest Roy Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I have a file on the network with access to it for 3 people. When you open a file in the folder ( excel or word ) and then try to save it to the same location it says read only. The file will save to desktop but not the folder. The person who is the owner can not even save to it. Any ideas please?
Guest Graham Anderson Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 RE: Save to restricted file Right-click over each file (1 at a time) and choose properties. On the general tab, is the read-only attribute marked? If it is, remove it and try opening/changing/saving the file again. If it's not, click the security tab. Do the users have write permission to the file? If not, give it to them. If the files are on a server share, it may be that the share permissions are set at read only.
