Hello there.

Have you tried a system restore to before this happened?

Or uninstall the sound driver via device manager then restart the laptop?

Do either of these options work?

Did the sound suddenly stop working or was there problems before it did?

What make and model is your machine?

Is the sound icon on your taskbar?

Have you doubled checked under advance that nothing is muted and all sliders are up fully?

Is it possible you may have a virus?

Your laptop may require a restart.

Could I just add if you have not already you only have one gig of memory, your computer can take upto two gig,I would add the extra memory when you have some spare cash. The laptop will run much faster...

1. What is the make and model of the Computer?

The Code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware and device driver issues or to compatibility issues between hardware drivers and additional software that is installed in Windows. Therefore, we recommend that you troubleshoot these issues by focusing on device drivers, on device configuration issues, and on hardware compatibility issues. You might need to update the chipset drivers and the Sound drivers.

Perform the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Run the Fixit from the following link and check if it helps:

Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/

Method 2:

Refer to the method 1 and method 2 as mentioned in the following article:

Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104

Method 3:

Since code 10-related errors result due to incompatible/outdated or corrupted drivers, download and install the latest Windows 7 drivers for your laptop from the manufacturer’s website.
