Guest Altria Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Hello All, I am trying to configure mandatory profiles for users in a WIN2k TS environment. The terminal server is configured with local GP, and user sessions are stored under Doc and Settings. After creating the share location, which is also local on the TS server, users who log in have profiles creted in both locations; ie. Doc&Set>tsuser1 and \\compname\profiles\tsuser1 In addition, the user account is not deleted after logoff. Can someone help me identify what I might be doing wrong and a way to rectify the situation. Also, is there a way that I can ssign profile path for groups rather than modifying every account in ADUC? Thanks, Altria
Guest Jeff Pitsch Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Re: Issues with Mandatory Roaming profiles How did you create your mandatory profiles? Did you use the .man extension as required? You could script the addition of the path to the user account but if you aren't using Group Policy (as in from Active Directory) I don't think there is a way other than manually adding the path. Thinking about it, I think GPO would only help if you were Win2k3 servers..... -- Jeff Pitsch Microsoft MVP - Terminal Services "Altria" <urbantec92@msn.com> wrote in message news:eUUIGCCGJHA.4712@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hello All, > > I am trying to configure mandatory profiles for users in a WIN2k TS > environment. Guest Altria Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Re: Issues with Mandatory Roaming profiles Hello Jeff and thanks for the quick reply! I have configured the profile with appropriate *.man extension. It is possible to do this with win2k as it supports GPOs but the issue is that the GPOs in this scenario are on the local level as opposed to the domain level. The issue is that I am having duplicates profiles created. I was under the impression that I could use TS settings in GPO to bypass local user profiles (under ADUC>profile tab of user). Therefore, How does TS profile settings differ from profile tab setting for any particular user? In additionI have "delete romaing profiles" in GPO set but the profile remains, in both locations (the network share, which is the local TS under \\servername\profile and c:\\docandsettings\users) Any help would be appreciated TIA, Altria "Jeff Pitsch" <jeff@jeffpitschconsulting.com> wrote in message news:%232fHm7CGJHA.6132@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > How did you create your mandatory profiles? Guest Jeff Pitsch Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Re: Issues with Mandatory Roaming profiles There is a hotfix you can get for Win2k3 that allows you to specify mandatory profiles. I do not believe that hotfix would allow you to do the same thing with Win2k. I had a client who trioed and it didn't work. Just because it's GPO doesn't mean it works for every version. That GPO you mention only does roaming profiles, not mandatory. yes they are different. If mandatory profiles are setup correctly they will automatically remove themselves when the user logs off. No GPO or any setting is needed. It sounds to me like you are confusing mandatory and roaming profiles. -- Jeff Pitsch Microsoft MVP - Terminal Services "Altria" <urbantec92@msn.com> wrote in message news:eaYQAkMGJHA.224@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Hello Jeff and thanks for the quick reply! > > I have configured the profile with appropriate *.man extension.
