no audio

hi my laptops sound is not working i have tryed installing the realtek ac97 driver and hd 1 it loads up tells me to restart when its done and it still wont work ive even tryed the update driver and it still wont work can any 1 help please.

Hi, OK, what else have you looked at, I know it is the obvious thing but have you checked that the speakers are not muted, and volume sliders are at the top, by looking in the sound controls?

 

Are you using the laptops own speakers or have you tried either external speakers or headphones in the speaker out jack socket?

 

Click "Start" then "Run", type or copy and paste=

 

devmgmt.msc

 

Click the + next to "Sound, Video, and game controllers" are there any red or yellow marks? If so what are they for.

 

Also, does your laptop have a volume control on the side of the case as my Toshiba does? It is so easy to accidentally turn that down to zero when removing it from, or putting it back in its case.

 

Let us know what make and model your laptop is if it isn't that simple, then I can look up specs for what other things to look for.
