Help please, Windows Explorer and My Computer - locks up!

XP SP3. Everything's been fine, up until today.

 

If I use Windows Explorer, then try to look at My Computer, it freezes

up!

 

I haven't done any updates recently, the only thing I was playing

around with recently was an external HDD, which can be a bit

troublesome at times.
