Help Please. Dont know what memory upgrades to buy

Hi

 

I have an Acer Aspire with 3gb Ram and wish to install new memory as it cannot cope with Cities xl game that I love. I dont know what to buy? I have four slots - 1 slot=1gb/1 slot=2gb (why couldnt they just have stuck in 4gb!!!). the problem is that there appears to be another Acer Aspire that is identical to mine apart from mine has 500gb and the other one has 1TB. My pc is athlon ll x2 220.

 

Any advice would be much appreciated.

p.s. Wish I had known better and plumped for a gaming laptop as the Acer cant cope with them and there will be no point in trying to sell it either as I wont even get half my money back even if it is only 5 months old. :(

What is the exact make and model of the computer please?

Log onto CRUCIAL then system scan, let this run and they will tell you what update if any your machine can handle. You can then check other sites for the best value.

Thanks for replying. My pc is an Acer Aspire z3101 Windows 7 Home Premium/3gb DDR3 memory/500gb hard drive/AMD Athlon ll x2 220 dual core processor/Nvidia GeForce 9200 graphics.
