dobrui Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Hi again, I think I previously posted in the wrong threat. Sorry, I am a newbie. So my question is about a cheap 32gb ram (4x8gb) for an asus p9x79 pro motherboard with i7 3820 processor. I found two web-pages with very cheap memories but don't know how reliable they are and whether the price is not too low. so the pages are: 1. http://www.cleverboxes.com/p-145381-cmz32gx3m4x1866c10r-corsair-vengeance-32gb-memory-kit-6x8gb-pc3-15000-1866mhz-ddr3-dimm-red.aspx 2. http://www.airetechit.co.uk/e-shop/products.php?236972&livemode=1 Can you advice? Vr5fx Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Would you mind me asking what you intend to use your new build for? 32gb RAM is very extreme, only a handful of things require that much RAM. I wouldn't trust those sites for the RAM. Where I buy my gear from 12gb Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz costs near on £100. But then I haven't traded with them before so I may just be assuming. Anyone else have insight to these sites? Some of their prices are dirt cheap :s Quote AMD FX 6100 @ 3.9Ghz / Asus M5A99X EVO 990X / G-Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX / Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti / Corsair TX 750W V2 PSU / Antec Kuhler 620 / Win7 64 / NZXT Tempest 410 Elite / NZXT 6 channel fan controller / Kingston 240GB HyperX 3K SSD / 1TB HDD Intel Pentium G2020 2.90GHz / Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI / Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX Genesis / Corsair 430W CXM / Fractal Design Node 304 Mini ITX Case / 2TB WD Greenhttp://steamsignature.com/status/default/76561197986113115.png
KenB Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Hi and welcome to ExTS I deleted your other post :) Take a look here: click here From the official Corsair site 32GB Vengeance RAM = $699 or £439 If the deal seems too good to be true - then it is exactly that. EDIT I did Google Cleverboxes.com and they get good reviews: click here It may be worth giving them a ring to confirm the price and ask how they can be selling £400+ worth of RAM so cheaply Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! dobrui Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 Hey, :D First of all, thanks for your responses guys. I just checked with the company and they said it was a mistake that comes from their third party supplier. The real price is around £320. :( @Vr5fx I compose music and use VSL such as EWQL (synthesiser for symphonic music). To load only one instrument takes about 1GB and if you want a full orchestra then... Quote
KenB Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 I am no expert at company law - BUT ...........if a product is advertised at £25, even if it is a mistake, I am sure you are entitled to buy it at that price. Do a printout of the advertisement and make a few enquiries. You may get a bargain yet :) I have just checked the link - strangely it is now £320 :) However ................... the other one is still listed at £17 :) :) Check with citizens advice - Printscreen the advertisement - then contact the company. Plastic Nev Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Hi, the large amount of RAM isn't actually needed, I run Finale and for realism will bring in Garriton (GPO) and only have 4 GB RAM installed, you most certainly won't need a full GB for each instrument. RAM memory is shared in these circumstances, not split with a GB to each instrument, though the first GB may be needed to get the ball rolling so to speak. Nev.
