Help, I need to trial windows xp on my mac

Recommended Posts

Hello, I wonder if you can help. I just bought a Mac and downloaded a trial

version of parallels to run windows XP. However its asking for an XP product

key which I do not have. I do not want to buy Windows yet until I know it

works, so I need a trial key.

I have searched the website for this, does anyone know how I can get this/

Thanks very much.

You will need to get a legal copy of XP.

The fact that you are at least able to begin the installation means that

your version of "parallels" is working ok

If you are genuinely trialling the product and have no intention of actually

continuing to use the trial version, then you can use any product key that

is valid for that version of XP. Just don't activate it (you can't anyway

if the key is in use by someone else). It will run for 30 days before it

locks out.

I am not suggesting that this is necessarily strictly legal, but if you

remove it after 30 days or buy a legit copy and install that, I don't think

Microsoft will do much about it.

There's no such thing as a trial version of WinXP. If you want to use

it, you'll need to buy (or steal) it.

I dont believe Microsoft offers a free trial of their operating systems.

grin, I wonder if they did, what would happen...

Of course they do. Server evaluation versions are available and Windows

XP 64-bit evaluation was available.

People try it, they like it and they buy it. The don't like it they

don't buy it. Most of the evaluation versions are fully functional for

180 days. Some unwitting users try it, build it up and get used or rely

on it then at the approaching deadline they have become reliant on the

trial version then they scramble to buy the functional version because

they have too much (work) to lose if they allow the evaluation to expire.
