Additional domain controller

I am currently maintaining two domain controllers.one domaincontroller is having all the roles running and global catalog server,another one is a additional domain controller.if there is any problem happened in the domain controller and it is shutdown wheter the adc will be up to authenticate the user login,other active directory related changes,if not is it possible to make adc up and what is the procedure.Please help me......

Hello sakkanan,

 

So it is not down now? Make the second DC also Global catalog and DNS server,

for DNS use AD integrated zones. Also configure all clients to use also the

second DC as DNS server in the NIC configuration.

 

If your FSMO holder crashes and you can not bring it back, you have to seize

the 5 FSMO roles to the running one and have to do a metadata clenaup to

remove the crashed dc from the AD database.
