Send Message - Admin Rights

Recommended Posts

Posted

Our users work exclusively through RDP. For some reason a handful of users

were given local admin rights, so that they could send each other messages

using Task Manager. I've discovered that sending messages using that

message does require Local Admin rights.

Is there a way to give users rights to send messages using Task Manager,

without giving them local admin rights?

TIA

Huh? How do you send messages using Task Manager? I've never heard of that.

You can use "net send" without admin rights, but if your company needs

internal IM, check out Jabber. It's free.

On Users tab, right click user, Send Message.

JohnB, try placing users into "Server Operators" group instead of

Administrators.

Ok, I'm going to give that a try.

Re: Send Message - Admin Rights

I tried that, and it still does not work.

I found this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc786099.aspx

Which says "You must have Message permission in order to send messages".

And I looked at what rights Remote Desktop Users has, and it includes the

Send Message right. But... our users still can't send a message using this

method.

Has anyone else had success with this?

TIA
