Hello, I am having major issues with this extender that i recently purchased. I have got this new extender for my PS3 so i can get a connection in a certain room, Setup was nice and easy and had no issues with that at all, then where it all went wrong was with my PS3 i set it all up wired and everything seemed to be going smoothly until i realised that the extender is logging me in and out on a daily basis when i am trying to play online with my playstation and this is very annoying, is there any way i can get round this? The router in the main living room is a VM820 router that came along with my TV/internet package, The WN2000RPT is in my bedroom.. i have tryed doing this on a wireless connection (WN2000RPT) to and i am having the same continues problems on my PS3.. The firmware is V1.1.0.12, if anyone can help me this would be a great help as i am getting very frustrated at this issue.

Regards.

Is your extender located in the room that has bad wireless reception? If so, try placing the wireless range extender on the other side of the wall, closer to the wireless router you have. Experiment with different locations within your home to find the best result.

If signal isnt the culprit of causing your issue (if youve already tried this and it hasnt worked) it could be an issue with the firewall or DMZ settings on your router. From personal experience i was unable to play battlefield 3 online while i had a DMZ configured on my firewall, and port forwarding set up. I had to restore the firewall to defaults, and only add the port forwarding (the DMZ for some reason wasnt playing nice with the battlefield 3 servers).

If you continue to have issues even after moving the extender let me know, and we can start troubleshooting firewall issues and entering port forwarding rules.

Yes, it is that room being my bedroom and its also right next to my ps3 as i don't have any other sockets in the room really, i guess i could put it in the spare bedroom, The signal is 100% tho with the extender. I did try looking into port forwarding but the options on the extender settings on browser don't have any options what so ever.. so i am stuck?

no, you are not stuck. I believe the issue is with reception. This is how a range extender works:

lets say(hypothetically to kep things simple) that your wireless router has a range of 10 feet (its more than that but this is just to explain). if your PS3 is 15 feet away from the router, then your signal will be very weak, or not present at all. Now lets say the range extender has a range of 10 feet as well. If you place the extender 9 feet away from the router it is still within the wireless router's range of communication. and the extender can reach 10 feet in any direction, so effectively your router is now reaching 19 feet. This would enable the PS3 to communicate wirelessly with the router, by piggybacking off of the extender.

Now, that being said, if your PS3 gets a bad signal in your bedroom, and the wireless extender needs to connect to the router (wirelessly) in order to extend your internet to your PS3, then your extender is not doing you any good in an area where it has bad signal. All you need to do is move the extender closer to the wireless router, personally i would try moving it a room over, or putting it where it is convienent. Just remember, if the extender is too far away from the router, then it cant do its job and if it is right next to the router, then it is not exending your network very far.

Ive checked he online manual for your extener, and it has LED lights on it that will tell you where it is best to place it, i dont know if youve tried that yet, but if its saying to place it in your bedroom with your PS3, then i wouldnt follow what it says.
