KurtJ Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hi there, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this for me... I've got a short film I've got to make for Saturday, and half the footage captured was on someone else's video camera and they put it onto their Mac and then onto a USB for me. Once I copied them from the USB to my PC, whenever I open it I can't see the video but I can here it. Any ideas people? I'd really appreciate some help. If there are any details you think might help you figure out the problem, let me know and I'll try and get you more info on the files etc. Thanks! Quote
simonh Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hi What format are the files in? Are your codecs up to date? Which program are you using to open them? Simon Quote
KurtJ Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 They are .mov files and I need to open them with Avid Studios. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hello KurtJ. Ok I am not familiar with this softwware but did a litte search and you may need codecs and upgrades etc for this to work with MOV files. Here is a link I hope it helps.. http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/compatibility/en224089?popup=true&NewLang=en&DocType=1083 JB. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Plastic Nev Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Hi Kurt, If any of the above doesn't help, it may be worth while running it through a file converter to a different format, even WMV for instance. Here is a link to an excellent and free converter called "Adapter" http://www.macroplant.com/adapter/?utm_source=Adapter+%28PC%29&utm_medium=desktop+app&utm_campaign=Adapter+%28PC%29+1.0.3.0 If that can't dig the actual video out of the file, it isn't there to start off with, and you have got a bad copy. Yes, that can happen too. Nev Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. Register here If Free PC Help has helped you then please consider a donation. KurtJ Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 Hey guys, thanks very much for your help. I've had to start my project without all the footage and just do my best with what I got, due to the deadline being damn soon. But once I'm done with it, this information shall no doubt help me in the future. Thanks again for your time, this is a good forum! Quote
