My computer has been taking a long time to open my usual sites where I read the forums daily.

My wife's computer exhibits the same symptoms, she informs me that lightning has affected the trains. Have you heard anything like this affecting exchanges/internet etc?

jim

PS most of those sites are stateside......

Hi Jim, if a local lightning strike did damage to the local telephone exchange, that could be a reason, have you tried getting in touch with your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

They may know if there is an area problem, or at least test your own connection to see if it is just to your address only.

Quit correct though about lightning causing railway problems, but nothing in this article regarding telephone exchanges.

My ISP is BE There Unlimited and I have sent an email to ask about this. This is the first time I've noticed it so slow. I've done a download speed test and I am only getting 4.7MB/s which is way below their advertised slowest of 5.5MB/s and of course a lot below their max of 20MB/s. They have yet to answer that query. Incidentally we are within a mile of the exchange.
