Guest Joy Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I had mentioned this in another group, but I realized it's better suited to this group. The shield icon on my Taskbar says it has been downloading updates most of the afternoon/evening and it's only at 24%. I have no idea what these updates are - it seems that it USED to ask me. Isn't there a way to set this so that is does ask and I can choose which ones I want to install? I have Win XP (Pro, I think) with SP3.

Guest Davelee78 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 RE: Updates If you go to Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Under Manage security settings for: click "Automatic Updates" You should be able to click the radio button that says "Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them." Click "OK" and you should be good to go. -- “Knowing others is wisdom; Knowing the self is enlightenment; Mastering others requires force; Mastering the self needs strength” ~ Lao Tzu "Joy" wrote: > I had mentioned this in another group, but I realized it's better suited to > this group. Guest PA Bear [MS MVP] Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Re: Updates Joy, it becomes quite confusing (for all concerned) when you multipost about an issue in several newsgroups. Yes, but that was before you had a technician format and reinstall Windows! -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Joy wrote: > I had mentioned this in another group, but I realized it's better suited > to > this group.
