No,the product key for media edition will not work for XP.Also,simply

reformating the hd doesnt qualify for "repair bad sectors",if xp is still to

be installed,boot to xp cd,press r For recovery,in recovery,type:DiskPart

In DiskPart,delete the partition,create one,press ESC key,type:CHKDSK C: /R

Once thru,type:EXIT Reboot to xp cd,install xp.

You can still boot into safe mode and run chkdsk c: /r. It'll say can't lock

drive - press Y to do chkdsk on reboot
