how can this be?

Yes Joe how can this be? Windows 7 uses the "Documents" folder not "My Documents". The last OS to use "My Documents" was XP.

I have two of these files

Files? Don't you mean folders?

I have two of these files

What are each of the locations?

I have two of these files

What does the Properties say about them?

Do you have Folder options set to show hidden files and folders?

Is there more then one User Account?

Are you an Admin User?

Do you have a lot of threads going on here?

Would you like to solve any particular problem first before moving on to a different problem?

What you refer to is a Junction Point

It is not a folder - more a means of directing software to the correct place.

Note the arrow on the "Folder" icon.

You will also note that the "Folder" is empty.

Yes I do mean Folder I don't know very much

Properties show one is located in Desktop the other is just described as Folder in Properties

I don't have Hidden Folders shown

I am sole user,so I guess you could call me an administrator

I have a few threads yes, it's not unusual for me to have more than one problem.A forum with different and varied problems is very educational for other viewers as well as me.If asking more than one question is a concern for you it might be as well to mention this in a sticky or somewhere prominent.Your comment make me feel less than entirerely wellcome.

Sorry about that Joe. It's just that we are becoming a little concerned that some of your problems might be related. That's why I thought it might be best to stick with one issue at a time. Unless of course you think they might be related in which case it would be best to keep them in the same thread.

You are more then welcome here Joe.

Joe if I remember right Windows 7 by default does not show Documents on the desktop. If you look carefully you may see an arrow on the icon which would indicate that it's a shortcut to the actual folder. Also Propertis should show that.

Was Kens post helpful? You didn't say.

What else did Propertis say about the folders? Location etc. You didn't say.

Joe we really want to help but we need as much information as you can give us please.

Thank you Ken's post was helpful, the properties says;in regard to the one with the arrow just the word Folder ,that's it.The second one indicated it was on the desktop,I wanted to know if there was information there that I had forgotten about.

If you mouse-over the "folder" and you get "0 bytes" there is nothing in it.

Or if it is a folder ( the one with the arrow certainly won't be )

Right click > Properties

"Size" will tell you if there is anything in there.
