Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 RE: Shutdown from Remote desktop From: How can I prevent my users from shutting down the Terminal Server? http://ts.veranoest.net/ts_faq_configuration.htm#preventShutdown If your users can shutdown the Terminal Server, they are members of the Administrator group. If that's the case, there is no way to prevent them from shutting down the server (and they will be able to do far more serious damage than merely shutting it down!). You can remove the Shutdown option from the Start Menu with a Group Policy, but this is only a cosmetic change. Normal users will *not* be able to actually shutdown the server, even if they see the option, and Administrators *will* be able to shutdown the server, even if they don't see the option. _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ =?Utf-8?B?UGhpbA==?= <Phil@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote on 24 sep 2008 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > this article should help you > > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278295 > > the setting is in > User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu & > Taskbar] > > > you can remove the shutdown in group policy and add the logoff > button so users never shut the server down.. > > "Raghuram Raichooti" wrote: > >> Hi All, >> >> user using remote desktop, unfortunately used shutdown option >> instead of Logoff, can i find who the user is, where is the log >> generated. >> >> how can i prevent the user from using the shutdown option. >> -- >> Raghuram Raichooti
