DVD-Rom Region not set

I have a PC with a dvd-rom, which the dvd region has never been set

in. Whenever I attempt to actually set it to Region 1 (USA), It tells

me I don't have the privileges, I am in the administrator group. Also,

I have attempted with and without the movie present in the drive. Can

anybody here help me with this issue?

Fairly common issue, one possible solution is to check/install the

latest Firmware for the optical drive. Typically XP will detect the

newly flashed drive as a new instance in Device Manager. You

also may need to boot to Safe Mode (F8) to gain access with

the Administrator account.
