Windows Server 2003 R2 and OLP Device CAL "installation"

I have done a lot of searching and can't find any microsoft approved info

about installing or using Device CALs. We just ordered 3 servers from Dell

along with OLP licensing for all servers and 18 Device CALs. Going into the

EOPEN site and the related licensing site we have located and used the server

product keys to install the server software. Despite numerous trys with

Microsoft, I have not been able to find out what the correct process, if any,

is to install/use the device CALs. There is no apparent software or product

key or magical incantation to use to acquire the Device CALS

In our case we have enough device CALS purchased to cover our workstations

and want to use them to access all of the licensed servers.

My impression from some other posts is that no real licensing functions need

be implemented on the servers with some possible caveats such as NOT setting

the servers to PER SERVER. Is the "correct" procedure to just watch your

licenses or do you use the licensing tool to add licenses? Where do you get

the licenses? Does Microsoft document this process?

Bruce,

You don't need to do anything. You just need to have the licenses.

Hello Bruce_IT,

There is no installation needed. You need to have them that's all. Only Terminal

server CAL's are controlled with the TS license server.
