Open the Run box and enter: cmd 2. For XP, type this command: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose For Vista, type this command: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose How to reset security settings back to the defaults http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222 "/ This step-by-step article describes how to set the security settings in Microsoft Windows XP Professional and in Windows Vista back to the default settings for a disaster recovery scenario.
