Guest letterman@invalid.com Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 I just installed a new modem yesterday. A USR V-Everything. The modem works great, but I just right clicked on the dialer button and left clicked on Disconnect. It will not disconnect. I've tried 6 times, and there were no open browsers, or other internet software. WTF????? Has anyone ever had this problem? How 2 fix?

Is this "new" modem supplied with Win98 drivers? 3. How does this modem respond to the AT disconnect command? -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada)

How does this modem respond to the AT disconnect command? Which is what? AT?????? It's been working and disconnecting since. Something was screwy. but just that one time.

A pause, the interrupt character three times, and a pause again - all of these can be configured, but the default is "+++" with a second before and after (to ensure they're not just part of communication), will return it to "command mode", where it will accept the AT commands; I think ATH (for hangup) is the relevant one that actually makes it "hang up the receiver".
