Hi all,

so i have a hp proliant ml310 g5 server, its currently running server 2000, i wish to install xp pro, if i put the disk in whilst the server is running and try to upgrade i get the upgrade not supported message, if i try to install from boot the installation stops, my screen flickers and i recive a message saying that it cannot find any hard drives, im at a bit of a loss all i can think of is formating the hard drives and trying a fresh install.... any help would be greatly appreciated

Xp may not have the drivers for your SATA/RAID card, look on the manufacturers website for AHCI/SATA drivers, usually say "for the f5 option" or similar.

during setup you will be asked to press "f5" (if memory servers me correctly) to install 3rd party drivers, put a floppy drive in or a correclty formatted USB pen that has these drivers, once the drivers are found you can continue installation.

beware you still may not have the upgrade option.
