Plastic Nev Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help, loud and sustained rattling noises from the hard drive suggest it has died on you I am afraid. Good job perhaps that there was no data on it to be lost. There may be some instructions in your manual for removing the hard drive for replacement, in most cases it will be a cover underneath, remove that, perhaps one or two screws, and usually just pull the drive out. 12345guy12345 Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 hi nev i removed my hdd and connected it to my other pc it lets me tranfer files is it possible to try and install xp via this computer to the hdd then put it back in the notebook Quote
KenB Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 The only way you could do this would be to install XP as you suggest then, after putting it in the Notebook you would need to do a Repair Installation using the original installation CD. I doubt very much if it would boot when first put in the Notebook as Windows would recognise a different environment ( motherboard etc ) The Repair Installation would not remove any data / files etc. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!
