I have windows XP home edition installed SP3. I am now trying to reinstall XP

from my recovery disk SP1. From the boot menu i choose to boot from the CD,

the installation process starts, i´m not getting any questions or choices

then the installation crashes, bluescreen and the message "STOP: c0000221

unknown hard error\systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll".

I need help getting solving the problem

I can think of two reasons for the problem:

- Your hard disk is defective.

- Your CD defective or is not a WinXP installation disk.

I cleaned my CD and installed from another CD-player and that worked. The CD

wasn´t very dirty so I guess the original CD-player was faulty somehow.
