Guest robbio Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Hi at all, my problem concerns about the subfolders inside ...\WinSxS\ folder, in particular the "x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b*" folders. These folders have the runtime libraries allowing to run programs, developed with new development environment VS2005, under WindowsXP (....VC90.. for VS2008). When I install for the first time Windows XP, without any service pack, does it contain these folders? that is ..\WinSxS\ and "x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b*" folders? (I installed a fresh copy of WindowsXP with the Service Pack 3 inside it and after the installation the ..\WinSxS\ folder has all subfolder I'm talking about) If not so do these folders come with a Window Update or from a one of the three service pack of WindowsXP? If yes could you tell me where these information is on Microsoft site? Thank you in advance roberto
Guest Jaelani Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Re: Windowxs XP and ..\WinSxS\ subfolders Those two are Visual C++ 2005 Redistributables and Visual C++ 2008 Redistributables. aka. Visual C++ Runtime libraries. I don't know if they are part of Windows XP SP3 since I have not yet installed it. One thing for sure though... They are not part of Windows XP SP2 since AFAIK, Visual Studio 2005 doesn't exist yet at that time. robbio wrote: > Hi at all, > > my problem concerns about the subfolders inside ...\WinSxS\ folder, in > particular the "x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b*" folders. > These folders have the runtime libraries allowing to run programs, > developed with new development environment VS2005, under WindowsXP > (....VC90.. for VS2008). > When I install for the first time Windows XP, without any service pack, does > it contain these folders? that is ..\WinSxS\ and > "x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b*" folders?
