This is a hanger-on from previous versions of Int Exp. I have done the properties and run maximised of the main short cut and that opens fine - maximised. But all shortcuts invariably open diminished or half size. I have tried the clicking and dragging and closing via file whilst holding down ctrl and shift. Neither has worked. In Windows 7 is there a facility to remember whether it was maximised last time it was opened? Or is there another answer?

Hi Jim.

Let me see if I can remember how to do this.

Open IE. Make sure it is not maximized.

Use your mouse to drag the edges or the corner to make it full size.

Do not close the window.

Open a second window by using an IE shortcut or by right clicking a link and open in new window.

Use your mouse to drag the edges or the corner to make it full size.

Now click maximized in this second window.

Do not close this window yet.

Go back to the first window.

Now click maximized in this first window.

Close the first window.

Close the second window.

I hope I got the correct order here.

Open IE.

I'd tried all these. But I think there might be something wrong in your post above as I cannot click to open a shortcut with a full sized first window open.

The easiest way out of frustration is to open I Ex which is run maximised and use the - sign to diminish it to the lunch bar. When any shortcut is now opened it will open the browser's full size. But this a cludge - a work around if you like. I was using chrome until I saw there utilisation of all our private info.

Jim in the first window go to a site that has links. If you right click a link you will get the option to "Open in new window".

This will get you two open windows.

I've just got back from a little trip out and read your answer Randyl and immediatly went to try it - but everyone opened full size! Aaargh!

I'll just have to wait a bit, the only thing that has happened since I went out was the screen went into 'saver' mode, which I don't like so I opened control panel and altered the settings so as to never do that and to never power down.

That shouldn't affect it!

but everyone opened full size

Isn't that what you want?

I'm a little confused here.

When I said "Open IE. Make sure it is not maximized." I meant that you should make sure that the little box between the _ and the X is not set to maximize before dragging the window larger.

Aha, so ambiguity sets in. Well it seems we have found a cludge that works - until now anyway.

The action I took was that I right clicked on the I Ex icon and opened properties. Clicked on 'open minimised' then opened I Ex. It opened full sized. Opened a link (google) it opened full size.

Came out of them and clicked on a shortcut to one of the sites I visit everyday and it opened - full sized!

Yes that is what I want but what did I do to make that happen? It wasn't happening before I went out - nothing worked. When I left here this morning it was opening all but the I Ex icon as a half sized window.

It appears you got there in the end. That's what matters.

Using properties sets the windows size for that particular icon shortcut. Normal is the default setting. What you set it at is what size it will remember to open the next time.

The method I prescribed causes all windows to open maximized no matter what shortcut you use.

Anyway if your happy I'm happy.

It reverted to half window size again this morning so whatever caused the change didn't sustain it for long ... a couple of days?

Anyway I did what you said and it now opens those site links full size. Many thanks

That's great Jim. If someone resizes your windows you may have to do it again so save the instructions.
