Guest NC Beach Bum Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Does access to an exchange server require WINS? The basis for the question is a bit more complex but here it is... We have a company with two internal domains and each is in it's own forest. Domain 1 is the main domain for the company and controlls servers (DC, Exchange, file, etc.), network CAT5 lines, firewall, and Internet Access. Domain 2 is new and contains one 1 DC. Domain 2 users are accessing the Domain 1 exchange server. The new DC in domain 2 has WINS which is trying to replciate with Domain 1 WINS. Is there a need for Domain 1 and Domain 2 to share WINS when they are only accessing exchange? Thanks for the insight! -- NC Beach Bum

But in this scenario it shouldn't be necessary. What's the reason for the two domains, just out of curiosity?
