Epson perfection 1250 scanner

I have an Epson perfection 1250 scanner, quite old now but when i upgraded to Windows 7 it installed it OK. I was doing a bit of rearranging and unplugged it for a few months and after plugging it in again windows 7 doesn't recognise it. Updating the driver fails. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help, a sort of off the cuff for the moment thing, is there any chance you can try the scanner on a computer with XP on it to check if the scanner itself works?

HI i posted a thread a while ago re this scanner, in short its not compatable with win 7-or vista and there are no patches.

If you find a programe called VUESCAN then this works and the scanner is fine.

It looks as if you will get a "nag screen" until you pay for it - but if it works it is certainly cheaper than a new scanner.
