[Solved] compaq sg3-210uk video drivers windows 8

hi since my past thread has been removed i've upgraded to windows 7 but i am thinking of windows 8, i was wondering if my windows 7 drivers will work on the windows 8 consumer preview?

 

p.s i couldn't find a section for windows 8 :)

Hi, we haven't started a Windows 8 section yet, no doubt we will have to sooner or later :D

 

As far as I am aware the Windows 8 consumer preview should run on any computer capable of running Windows 7.

 

Bear in mind Windows 8 is aimed specifically at touch screen technology. The few folk I have seen report on it, have all said it seemed a bit bland and difficult to work with if there is no touch screen.

Hi, the reason i considerd getting windows 8 was well i got a touch screen moniter anyway i was wondering if my drivers for video lan etc will work because when i installed xp i got a error saying that the drivers only work on windows 7 will the drivers install and work on windows 8 (mostly because i sometimes play pc games)

Indeed you would get that trying to run XP on a W7 machine, however I think you will find all should be OK on W8. Others who have tried the consumer preview have not reported any issues.

the touch interface on windows 7 is really bad ive just been tossing around the idea of windows 8 but worrying about drivers and not being able to play games and stuff THANK YOU i can not thank you enough :D :D :D

ummm new problem....when i go to install windows 8 it sais it cant locate any drivers so i went and downloaded all the windows 7 drivers for my compaq and put them on a usb go into windows 8 install with the usb and still wont use the drivers from the usb and when i try to install strait from windows it sais it had a problem detecting if my pc will work .... :C

1 i was saying wats happend since it was closed 2 I WAS WANTING HELP WITH DRIVERS OK if u asked i wouldve go to xp pro i only installed black because i heared it was fast for gameing and i asked to see if there were xp versions for my video drivers

Installing illegal operating systems is something that we explained to you - as pleasantly as possible - was something we were not prepared to assist with.

 

Your first post implied that we had somehow slighted you. Not so.

However if you wish to remain on these forums you will reply respectfully ( as we do ) otherwise I am afraid we will part company.

sorry. I was just a bit annoyed I've been really stressed recently with exams and my computer just failing I hope you can understand

 

ps I also do have anger problems but I try to be calm on forums but that just really annoyed me

You must be aware that the Win8 version that you have is a BETA version and, as such, may not run particularly smoothly.

It should, however, install.

 

Please be aware that if you do manage to install it the only way back to Win7 is to use the DVD. If there was a recovery partition installing Win8 BETA will delete this.

 

The release date for the commercial version of Win 8 is suggested as October this year.

 

Personally, I wouldn't use a BETA version of any Operating System on my main machine.

 

How old is your machine?

I suspect that it may not be Win8 compatible ..............could this be a possibility ?

hi, writing on win8 :D I read online that its just a bug with installing from a usb drive so I just installed directly from win7 and it runs perfect now, I had a little trouble with my wireless wna1100 Wi-Fi thingy but by downloading a updated driver and running in compatibility mode it works! and I was using the touch screen but I like the keyboard and mouse combination better hmmmmm anyway yeah its a bit buggy but I don't mind Ubuntu can be ALOT buggier ps my machine is 1 and a half years old

It is a simple matter of buying a cheap Win8 compatible card if you wish to continue with this OS.

hi technicly it's on board but it's based of the ati readeon hd 3000 and it uses the same drivers so I checked at ati's site if they have windows 8 drivers but it said there built in to win8 but when I go to launch a game like minecraft it said bad. video drivers

They probably are - but you have a BETA version and they may be missing.
