Guest David Schwartz Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I would like to customize the images used on my desktop shortcuts. Right click-properties-change icons only lets me change it to an "icon file type" How can I use a JPG image for a desktop shortcut? Do I have to somehow convert the JPG to an icon file type? Also, in case it matters, the shortcuts I want to change are mainly shortcuts to web sites. Thanks -- David Schwartz Commack, NY

I use http://icofx.ro/ as an editor. It has built in a way to convert JPG etc files. I think you just load it and it puts a sample on the screen and depending on the resolution you have to move a square around and cut out a usable portion of the image to use as the icon. Remember jpgs can be very big. Google images sometimes has nice icons if you search for "small" images. Have fun. I customize most of mine. I hate normality. :-)
