Guest Unknown Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Re: XP Pro PC Has slowed Considerably When SP3 is installed a system restore is generated in the event the install goes bad. This takes up disk space. Once you are satisfied that SP3 causes no problems do a disk cleanup and defrag and your system will return to it's former speed. Guest (PeteCresswell) Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Re: XP Pro PC Has slowed Considerably Per Tom: >my PC has slowed down quite abit. Same here, but I'm only at SP3. JS's question rang true to me and I increased the free space from 1.7 gigs out of 24 to about 8 gigs. Another question though: does anybody know where the setting for caching vs non-caching is? Seems I recall setting it to "no" along with my USB external drives a long time ago.... and having no cache on C: seems kind of dysfunctional to me now. -- PeteCresswell
