Windows 2008 DC In a 2003 Domain

Hello,

 

Can a windows 2008 domain controller participate in a windows 2003 domain

and forest? I am not ready to upgrade to 2008 yet but have 1 windows 2008

server that I would like to make a domain controller that is part of our

windows 2003 domain. Is this possible?

Yes, it can participate, but first you need to prepare the infrastructure.

Hello Larry,

 

Works without any problem. You have to prepare the schema of the 2003 domain

before you can add a 2008 DC. Run adprep commands on the 2003 schema master:
