Guest Viperbabe Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Re: Product key replacement Would that be the cheapest route? Would a replacement product key cost just as much? You can copy a friend's CD. It is not possible to tell from the key what product it refers to. After resolving this issue, pay attention to the big-letter note on the CD case: "Do not lose this key". Since a new licence costs a lot of money, you'd be wise to register it (together with all other licences) in a spreadsheet which you print out. This would save you a lot of grief.
Guest Xandros Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Re: Product key replacement If the version of XP is a retail version you can contact Microsoft to see if they can help . Take this link and scroll down to the section on Replacement Product Keys http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246 However if your version is an OEM version then Microsoft cannot help you as OEM versions are the responsibility of the manufacturer of the hardware it came with. -- Xandros "Viperbabe" <Viperbabe@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4BD23AA7-88A8-4862-B476-8573F09251CF@microsoft.com... > Would that be the cheapest route?
