Tandfi Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I'd like to upgrade my 250Gb HDD in my Acer Aspire L3600. I'm capable of making the switch but need to know if the Motherboard will accept a larger size. I know on large format desktops you can put a different control card in, but this small fotprint Pc won't take any additional cards so need to know what the on-board controller will take. many thanks - tony Quote
Jelly Bean Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hello and welcome. I would say yes you can upgrade the internal hard drive to a 500 gig possibly a 1TB.... But you would need a FULL install vista OS to reinstall windows or possibly install XP then use an upgrade disk to install Vista. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
KenB Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hi, take a look here: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/desktop/0000/Acer/AspireL3600/AspireL3600sp2.shtml It suggests 500GB ( not sure if this is a m/board max or the max that they will fit with this model )

Storage Slot-load optical drive options: DVD Dual, DVD SuperMulti (varies by model) up to 500GB Hard Disk Drive SATA (varies by model) 3 in 1 Card Reader (selected models)

What you could do is make an image of the drive. ( I can provide a link if necessary ) You can then transfer the image to your new HDD - this will then transfer exactly what is on your present drive to the new one. No need to reinstall software etc. and all of your files and folders will be as they are at the moment.
