Guest David Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 In Office 2007, in Excell, I occasionally have the program throw a fit and begin to select 2 or 3 lines or cells. I also notice at the same time, the cap lock key is reversed. When it is locked, I type in lowercase and when it is unlocked, I type in uppercase. I haven't figured out what I did to cause it or how to reverse it. I usually save the document, close the program and re-open or reboot. Other times in just seems to go away after a little while. Any clues as to what is happening? -- The more you know the less you know until the day comes you know nothing.

Your keyboard appears to get confused. Tapping on the following six keys, one after the other, will usually fix the problem: Left Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Right Shift, Ctrl, Alt.

I did discover that when I click in the upper half of a cell, it only selects the cell, but when I click on the lower half of the cell, it selects the lower adjoining cell too. Is this a feature in Excel 2007 that can be turned off and on?
