Start menu items and commands typed in Run dialog not working...

Hi,

Suppose if I want to start a program which exists in my start menu, it

does not work. It opens up the dialog that allows us to choose which

program we want to execute. It is behaving as if this file is not

associated with an exe. Even an exe file is not getting file-

associated.

Moreover, when I try to change the system time/date it throws a error

message box saying Cannot find file c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe

This sounds like a virus problem to me. Any idea on tackling this

without the use of antivirus software...?

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

Look for: EXE File Association Fix (Restore default association for EXE files)

If you think you've got a virus, why don't you want to use anti-virus

software?

Hi,

I also have a rundll.exe problem. At start up I get a message box

saying Cannot find rundll.exe. And then it suggests that I search for

it...

You DON'T want that file. Run MSCONFIG and uncheck the Startup entry

that points to it.

Go to Start/Run: CMD

Type in sfc /scannow

I think I've solved the problem. I did a registry search for

rundll.exe. It was under a key called shell, and its value was

'explorer.exe rundll.exe'. You've to change it.
