i lost red with a nvidia driver/video card. its not the monitor because if you can access the monitor's menu on its front panel and go to display the icons they use have red in them and it shows perfectly.so its something with the nvidia. i had to reboot from scratch and was adding new programs and midi instruments and it happened on a day i added Cakewalk sonar's xt demo, an m audio midi keyboard(which when i tried to install with a diskl it warned me of possible instability,so i just plugged it in without running install and it recognized it and was ready to go,maybe it installed drivers on its own? I don't know how that works) and a freeware softsynth,so lots of possibilitiesvfor corruption. i can only get red by pressing th4e menu button on the monitor.i put service pack 3 on the 6 hours before this happened as well(onto window xp media edition).it actually came back after turning off then on the thrid time, but then it lost red again as i went on the internet.it almost seemed like it coincided with me dragging a softsynth in sonar's multidock which tints the exact shade of blue that covers the screen when you hold on object over it.come to think of it, the white on the screen has a blue tint,so either theres a blue tint over everything making red seem black or the lack of red to mix into white leaves white with a bluish tint.yeah,it definitely is being triggered by playing video files, cause its good from startup until a few seconds into a video.any ideas?

Try wiggling the monitor cable that it connected to the back of the PC and monitor (if able) It might be a loose connection.

If that changes nothing try this,

Under the "Nvidia control panel" (I can access by right clicking on the desktop and clicking the option ***OR*** Start--> Control Panel --> Nvidia Control Panel) There is a "display" group folder, in that expandable folder there is a option called "Adjust desktop colour settings". Under this option there is a "colour channel" drop down box, if your able go through all 3 colour channels making sure they are the same on the sliding scale.

Default is

+50% Brightness

+50% Contrast

+1.00 Gamma

Hope it helps.

Hi, you installed that many different things that it could be hard to pin down which one is the fault.

I suggest doing a system restore back to a time before losing the colour, then re-install each program one at a time and check the colours are OK between each install.

If that is not possible, the only other suggestion is to look up the drivers for the graphics card and see if they can be updated or reinstalled.

let us know if further help needed with the graphics drivers.

i tried that but i am pretty sure its not any physical issue with the monitor seeing as i can puill up the menu from the front control panel on the monitor that will have red in it right on top of a blue tinted screen.i was hoping to be able to adjust the gamma and either turn down the blue or up the red but its totally unresponsive other than cycling through the tint and just swapping blue yellow and black for each other.and the rstore idea was a good one too but for some reason my computer hadn't set up a restore point yet for the day or even a few days which was also odd, maybe i should mention that i got this computer when someone else upgraded and had to do a complete reboot from the startup disks(all 16) because it was so cluttered with junk.so i started pretty far back in the operating systems (straight windows xp,no service packs) but its a fast machine, fast enough, and i am determined not to let another poor outdated computer fall by the wayside to spend the rest of itzs existence begging for spare electricity with a dirty screen and a generic brand tall-boy in its extended and broken cd tray, so if youy'll just donate a dollar a month to the save the outdates fund well send you a picture of an old computer to show people.all tangents aside, its really irratating trying to recorcd music when u cant see the red of the rec button.but it seems i'm stuck.maybe roland has had other people with a similar glitch stemming from the demo.thanks for the suggestions though, fellas.
