RandyL Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Hi Dave; I've never used Linux so if you could be more specific I'll try to research it for you; RandyL Quote We are all members helping other members. hardware_dave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks for the sugestions I want to mount a compact flash card from a embbeded linux thin client on my main linux box. When I try to mount it - mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/flash it tells me Imust specify the file system. This would indicate its not ext2,ext3 or reiser as mount would know what to do. -t auto fails as well. Fdisk shows sdc1,sdc3,sdc4 all linux paritions. Not sure why Wolfemole wants me to look at PAM ? Dave Quote Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity

hardware_dave Posted January 2, 2008 Author Posted January 2, 2008 Thanks seth, but I found that before I asked. It will only work on a mounted file system. I may have to give up for now. Dave Quote Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity
AdvancedSetup Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Well generally speaking I've typically only seen them in FAT16 and FAT32 file system formats but it could be something else. Here are some other resource links to hopefully help you out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CompactFlash http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_system Quote Need help with your computer problems? hardware_dave Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the help, but I begining to think its an encrypted file system. I could take the loader apart but but I am far to lazy. Dave Quote Never ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity
