Hi,

I have been running my system for several years now with no problems. Then all of a sudden when I turn it on, it only works for about 20-30 seconds and then switches itself off. I noticed when trying to turn it on, after several attempts it doesn't stay on for as long, making me think that something is overheating.

So, my first thought was to replace the CPU heatsink, did that however made no difference.

All the other fans are running too.

Tried with one stick of memory and then the other, but again no difference.

Also checked the CPU temp etc in the BIOS and its low at 26C. Switched off after about 20 seconds when checking that in the BIOS too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello and welcome.

The first thing I would do is check your PSU,do you have another one you could fit and test the system.

Hi and thanks.

You've got it in one. Went out to Maplin and bought a new PSU. Running fine so far.

Thanks again.
