It wont start properly and I appear to have lost all my personal files

My start up screeen seems to have gone to default along with all my programs and I have lost all my personal files. HELP!

Are you saying that your desktop icons have disappeared along with your personal files?

 

There is particular malware that will do this.

It doesn't remove them..... it just hides them.

Let's check this out first.

 

Download UnHide

 

Once the program has been downloaded, double-click on the Unhide.exe icon on your desktop and allow the program to run. This program will remove the +H, or hidden, attribute from all the files on your hard drives. If there are any files that were purposely hidden by you, you will need to hide them again after this tool is run.

The program will give details on each step that it is performing.

Once it has finished, the program will display a Windows alert stating that your files have been restored. You should then reboot your computer for all of the settings to go into effect.

 

If it produces a report, please post that in your next reply.

Also let me know if it cures your problem.
