joddle Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I am running a couple of Dell 755s and one of them is starting to get quite slow to start up. I have quite a bit of software installed but recently had a clear out and uninstalled programmes I am not using anymore but its still takes an age to get from the log in to the system ready stage with apparently loads of things loading. I have looked at the start up list but am not sure which things could be deleted from the start up process - anyone know what things in this list can safely be stopped/deleted? Bluesplayer. Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Start > Run >Type msconfig Click on Start Up Tab. Untick all entries Except avgnt "C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avgnt.exe" /min Apply > Ok > Reboot your Pc. The System Configuration Utility box appear on retstart - saying changes have been made. Tick the box on the lower left and then OK. Any entry can be re-enabled using msconfig - if you decide that you need it to run at start up http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_xp.html Quote
