Guest Big Rick Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Hello Folks All was working fine until I installed a new sound card. My machine will no longer auto shut down, It just gets to to stage of 'Windows is shutting down' etc. and at this stage I have to turm it off manually (hold button in for 5 secs). Please could you advise on restoring to normal. Your help is and always has been very much appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation. -- <-><-><-><-> Big Rick

I'd try a different driver for the sound card (go to the manufacturer's website), for starters. See if that helps. If not, check the event logs for errors.
Guest Big Rick Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Re: Not Shutting Down Many thanks. That did the trick. I am disgusted at myself for not thinking of that in the first place. Thanks again and best regards Big Rick -- <-><-><-><-> Big Rick "Lanwench [MVP - Exchange]" wrote: > Big Rick <BigRick@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > Hello Folks > > All was working fine until I installed a new sound card.
