Since a while ago the startup beep really became annoying. It's not needed to me, really.

I know the beep formation could change to even more beeps to show errors, but I will not let that happen.

If there is a way to turn off the sound, I would very much appreciate that.

PS: In Device manager when I show hidden files, the Beep file in Non-Plug and Play Drivers is not present.

I thought changing it's type to disabled would have fix it, but it's not there.

Thanks in advance!

-Rowan

[EDIT: It could be that the beep only displays on windows vista, it also could be I tried to fix my issue earlier undoing the installation of beep]

If you are talking about PC startup beep, open the cabinet and just remove the small speaker inserted in the motherboard.

In Most motherboard it is located in the bottom right corner.

Rap20 is in essence correct though, as the initial POST beep is a small speaker fitted to the motherboard, whether it is a touch screen like yours, a laptop, or even the big box of an ordinary desktop, and is not a part of the computers normal sound system, so therefore cannot be just turned off. The normal single beep is the BIOS telling you that the self test has been carried out and that everything is OK.

To actually stop the beep does mean disconnecting that speaker, wherever it is fitted in one of those things.

One of these days I will get chance to find where it is when I have to take one to bits to fix it, for whatever reason it has gone wrong.

Sorry about that, but if the beep is driving you up the wall, turn the computer on, and straight away go to the kitchen and put the kettle on to make some tea or coffee, hopefully you will be too far away to hear it. :D

So ......

This is not your computer.

You have restricted use of it and you want us to help you deceive the real owner ( parents ? )

If this is NOT your machine we are not prepared to assist any further - sorry.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

Now I understand.

Whilst I can see your need to have access to your pc 24/7 I can also understand why your parents have imposed a few rules.

I had rules in our household too when my lads were at home and I would have been more than angry with anybody who helped them break them.

It is not our intention to come between parents and their offspring.
