Guest Shirley Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I'm using xp sp2 (I don't want sp3 as I've heard some horror stories about it). My Stand By was working just fine, but all of a sudden I click it and nothing happens. I'm able to shut down ok and even restart ok, but the Stand By does not respond. I've changed nothing on my computer. I would appreciate some input. Thanks

If you were to base your decision on the many problems that you have read on just this forum alone, you could well be put off SP3 forever. However, it should be remebered that the dozen or so incidents here should be considered against the thousands of successful installations that nobody bothers to mention precisely because they don't have a problem. Yes there are a few people who have a problem (but then, equally there are poeple who have problems that are nothing to do with SP3), but for most people SP3 installs without any problems. If you are that worried, then you should have a proper backup of you windows installation before installing SP3, and that way, if it doesn't go acording to plan, you can easily fall back to the original installation.
